Joakim Kocjancic
Joakim Kocjancic (1975) is a documentary photographer and artist, born and raised in Milan. He studied painting and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and Carrara 1998–2001, and photojournalism in England 2005. Before settling in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2005 he had spent time both living and working in several European cities. Kocjancic’s black and white imagery is expressive and picturesque, his approach rooted in the classic street photography tradition with its presence in the moment, utilising analogue techniques. He is known for his personal project Europea which focused on normality and daily life in European cities. For Kocjancic, shooting with an analogue camera is a way to feel, think and reflect, a specific process both in time and in mind. His work is represented in the collection of Moderna Museet, Stockholm.
